Brian's 70's Orero Brian writes:"Your awesome site on track bike and street fix riding has been inspirational! I have long been toying with the idea of fixed gears, urged on by Sheldon Brown's site, the fixed geare gallery, etc. and other sites. When I built my first few I used and rode converted older road bikes. Then, after viewing your site, I got the urge to pick up a nice track bike. I thought about a new Fuji or KHS but, wanted something retro. So a fellow "old bike nut" at the LBS hooks me up with his yellow track bike frame for cheepcheep! 1970's, chromed head lugs. He says it's an Orero. The campy headset is his doing, but other stuff is just what parts I had. The right chainstay and the seatstay bridge were chipped up, so I painted the drive side chainstay and seatstay bridge gloss black fer a lil variety of color. The yellow part of the paint scheme paint needs some work as this bike was raced in it's day and has a few scratches, but it is solid and rides surprisingly well. I just had to say, thank you very much for contributing a website to the world of fixed gear bikes that set me on this path! The Orero? now has the place of honor in my basement next to the bar, and is eagerly awaiting matching yellow touch up paint and its first big ride. -- Elvis"
